A worn mouse switch fires two clicks from one physical press. Click the pad below at your normal pace, with any button. Two clicks closer together than the threshold are almost certainly the switch, not your finger.

How to read it: a person can’t physically click faster than about 120 ms. So two registered clicks of the same button under ~70 ms almost always mean the switch is double-firing. A few chatter events across many clicks means a switch starting to go. Frequent ones mean it is time to replace it, or to swap the OMRON as in the G604 write-up.
